Alternative To Tibenzor.

The only side-effect I have had to Tribenzor is in my wallet. It controls my blood pressure well, but can't afford it. It has Amalodepine in it. Amalodepine makes my joints, especially my feet swell and hurt. I was in a walker, on crutches, or in a wheel chairwhen I used it. It has Hidroclorothiazide in it (HTZ). Don't know of any problems I had with it. Has another one I can't spell either, but I have had no known problems with it. What can I take that will control my blood pressure, and still let me walk?

Steve these combination drugs cost more. I was taking Tribenzor which had been prescribed by my PCP. My insurance company did a review on my medication and became concerned because I was also taking Benazepril (Lotensin) which had the same affect as one of the ingredients in Tribenzor. I mentioned this to my cardiologist and he told me I should stop the Benazepril immediately. He also prescribed the 3 medications in Tribenzor separately and my monthly cost went down $92. He told be that the combination drugs always cost 2 to 3 times more than the medication would cost if prescribed separately.

Hello, Steve! How are you?

The other ingredient is Olmesartan, this medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, my include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increase urination and hypotension.

There are many other options available that your doctor can prescribe, including the Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide by themselves. You could speak to your doctor about trying them, without the Amlodipine, to see if they control your blood pressure.

If your doctor feels that you need to take a calcium channel blocker, like the Amlodipine, there are other options available in this category, as well, such as Clinidipine, Felodipine and Nifedipine.

Many doctors prefer to prescribe a medication like this that combines them all into one pill to better improve patient compliance with their medication regimen, but you can have separate ones prescribed, it needed.

Is there anything else I can help with?
