I started my period on May 9th and had Nexplanon implanted on May 11th. I was intimate with my partner on May 30th, but the condom broke. Should I take the plan b or am I protected? ## Generally, unless your doctor says otherwise, you only require backup concentration for the first 7 days of using a new hormonal contraceptive. However, if you are concerned, there is no harm in having yourself check for pregnancy, to be sure. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, irritably, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

My husband and I decided that we will go natural and/or use condoms as best as we can because I am not satisfied with the Nexplanon side effects. It's almost been a year since I had it. I gained 20 pounds and I'm very emotional. Sometimes I even get random depressive moods which is not healthy for our relationship. I have a removal appointment on Monday (28th) at 11am. Last night (Saturday the 26th) around 11pm he ejaculated inside me for the last time!! (Until we're ready to have a baby again). I heard sperm can last 3-5 days inside me. If they remove the implant, will I have the chance of getting pregnant? Prior to removing it, do doctors ask the question, when you last had a sexual intercourse? Can I take Plan B in the morning? We're not ready for baby #2. At least no...

I took plan B probably about a month ago after an accident with my bf.... Within a week I had ridiculously heavy bleeding that lasted 7 days. Two weeks later (last Friday...) I started spotting, and am still. My Dr has been in Africa working with Ebola for months.... I should also mention that my periods have never been on a normal cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Christina! How are you? Yes, Plan B is a high dose hormonal tablet, so it can cause those side effects, in some women that take it. It may take a couple months, before things settle back down and return to normal. If it worsens, or continues, then you should consult a doctor to be safe. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ok so here’s what happened: I take Lo Leostrin fe every day, but occasionally I may miss a day or take it hours late if it’s the weekend. I know that this f’s it up because I’ve had breakthrough bleeding even when I take it late in the day. On Saturday night, my boyfriend and I were pretty drunk and had intercourse. We noticed halfway through that the condom broke, so he put on a new one. He never climaxed, which happens sometimes when he’s drunk. I’ve been a little sore in my lower abdomen the days after, and I noticed a little discharge today. I’m probably psyching myself out, but since tonight would be the third night since we had intercourse, should I take Plan B? I know that the chances are very low that birth control was not effective and ...

I took plan B on July 28th. I had protected sex, but to be safe, I took plan B. I got my period on August 4th. Before my period, I had a bit of light pink discharge that I feared was implantation bleeding, but I'm thinking it was just spitting from plan B. That period lasted for two weeks, ending on the 17th of August. I have had sex since I took plan B (protected and with much caution). My period was supposed to start on September 1st, but it's now the 8th and it hasn't started yet. I have sore breasts, I feel bloated, but no period. Anyone have any ideas?

I had unprotected sex yesterday at approximately 5 am. The partner was only in me for less than a min, less than 30 seconds I would even guess. We were alone and decided to try it for feels. Needless to say, he never released in me. Yesterday at around 11am I woke up and felt horrible about everything. I also felt as though I was ovulating, but I don't track my cycle very well. I just go by feel, since I am not usually sexually active. By 2am, and after some research, I went and bought the Plan B pill and took it. Today I am feeling the dizziness side effects, as well as that feeling of ovulating (a strange pulled-muscle feeling coming from my lower back and side). However, I am scared the pill won't work?! I'm afraid yesterday was my first day of ovulating. I know the partn...

My partner and I are ready to start trying to conceive. Just not this month. We plan to start trying as of August on my next ovulation and however long it takes. I use this app that tells me my high fertility days and i have been tracking it with test strips and it's pretty accurate. I had unprotected intercourse on Saturday, 7/18 and my first day of high fertility started on 7/20, however i am aware that sperm can live in you for up to 5 days. If i take a plan b pill, it will either delay ovulation or stop the egg from releasing. Will this affect my ovulation window for next month? If the egg is stopped from releasing, what happens to the egg? ## Hello, Ang! How are you? Any egg that isn't released is harmlessly reabsorbed into your body. However, if you're trying to get pr...

I took a plan b one step, then started what I thought was my period a week later (one week early, which I figured was normal). On day 2 of bleeding, I inserted a nuvaring. I had used nuvaring a couple of months prior, but had skipped a month, then inserted a new one. Well, it is now 13 days of straight bleeding. Sometimes light, sometimes heavier period bleeding. I am more annoyed than alarmed. I live in a rural area and have to drive an hour to see a DrDr. I figure it will stop eventually, but I am getting impatient and wondering if I should take the nuvaring outout and use condoms or if this will just prolong it. Anyone had a similar reaction to Plan B +nuvaring? If so, how long did it last?! I would love to be intimate with my man but we're a bit new for *that* kind of intimacy. ...

I started my sprinted birth control on May 24th and I had intercourse on June 4th. I did miss some pills but after intercourse I also took a plan b pill anyways to be sure! My period still has not come!! ## Hello, Lori! How are you? Missing the pills, coupled with taking the Plan B has likely thrown your hormone levels off, so your period may be late or skipped this month. If you're concerned, please consult your doctor, but it's most likely nothing to worry about. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

On April 6th I had unprotected sex and my partner did NOT climax inside me. And I was stupid enough to have unprotected sex the very next day and I realized how terrible of an idea it was so I took plan b. On the 16th I got a heavy flow and I broke out with pimples so I'm hoping it was my period? I was having panic attacks and anxiety so I bought another plan b and now I feel like I am gonna start my period (my normal cycle starts on the 1st of the month) and 2 days ago I took 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative. This morning I had another anxiety attack so I took 2 more pregnancy tests and they came out negative. Am I just freaking myself out? Im never having sex again :(

I've been on Nexplanon for about 6 or 7 months now and I just started antibiotics this past week. I had a condom break during intercourse, should I take Plan B? Is it okay to take it while on Nexplanon? ## Hello, Whitisme! How are you? Antibiotics are not known to reduce the efficacy of Nexplanon. It uses a form of progesterone to prevent pregnancy. When antibiotics cause issues with contraceptives, it's usually the oral ones that contain estrogen, as well as a progesterone. Antibiotics can cause you to absorb less of the estrogen, which may nullify their efficacy. You can research this via the NIH. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello! I am currently on my 7th pack of Lo Loestrin Fe and am still not entirely regular. For the last 4 packs, I have gotten brown discharge for two days at the beginning of weeks 2 and 4, but have never actually gotten my period when I am supposed to, as Lo Loestrin Fe only has two inactive pills at the end of week 4. I was wondering what the brown discharge during week 4 could be--is it the shedding of my uterine lining? Additionally, I had another issue during the 4th week of my most recent pack. On the last Sunday of the pack I had my normal brown discharge. I also had intercourse during that same Sunday, and I had not skipped/missed any pills for the entire pack. On Monday I forgot my pill in the morning and took it 7 hours late that afternoon. Tuesday I was really worried that I ...
