I have been given Fluoxetine capsules and I'm wondering if they are placebos? I opened one up and to me looks white powdery and kinda fluffy is this Fluoxetine? ## Do you have a picture? Or can you describe the capsule? I have Fluoxetine capsules in 20mg and 40mg. I do not take them as they did not work for my body but I can tell you if you have legitimate capsules.

If so then the medication which you are describing is Fluoxetine 20 mg, which is an antidepressant. Is this medication available in the US my doctor has not heard of it? I would like to know who is the manufactuter. I had this script from Australia - threw out the box for travel purposes so cannot find manufacturer? ## The correct name of the active ingredient is Fluoxetine, it is commonly sold in the U.S. under the brand name Prozac. So yes, it is available in the U.S. You will need to tell your doctor that it is Prozac or the generic.

my grandson is ten years old and has been given fluoxetine 10 mg. He has been on it for 6 months. For a few months we saw a big difference, but now he is angry all the time, and depressed. I have a small white round pill with the letters FL and a line thru it and the #10 on the other side. My Husband has been taking flouxitine for 6 months now and he has been drunk everyday for 2 1/2 months. Please help. ## I am very sorry to read of the situation you are facing here, and I do understand your concern. You are right to worry, most prescription meds, of any type, do not mix well with alcohol. Most drugs are metabolized through your liver, and I am sure I don't need to explain to you the effects alcohol has on the liver, so he is really giving himself a double whammy. I am assuming your husband, as is normal for someone with his condition, is not concerned and will not listen to your concerns regarding his combining the two. The label is chewed up.
